Privacy Policy

Caffex (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Caffex mobile application and website at caffex.io (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using the Service you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and (if you choose social sign-in) your Apple or Google account identifier. Passwords are managed by Supabase Auth and are never stored by us in plaintext.

Profile content

Profile photos, review text, star ratings, flavor notes, photos attached to reviews, and other content you voluntarily submit are stored on our servers.

Location data

With your permission, the app accesses your approximate location while the app is in use to surface nearby coffee shops and roasters. We do not record or store a history of your location.

Device & usage data

We collect standard usage information such as app version, device type, operating system, and crash logs to diagnose bugs and improve the Service.

Payment information

If you purchase a Business subscription, payment details are collected and processed directly by Apple (via App Store in-app purchase) or Stripe. We do not store your full card number or bank details.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the Service.
  • To personalise your feed with nearby shops and relevant coffee content.
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset).
  • To process and fulfil orders placed through the marketplace.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

We share limited data with the following third-party services to operate the app. Each has its own privacy policy:

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app. Upon deletion, your profile and reviews are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

5. Your Rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (also available in-app via Settings → Delete Account).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Port your data to another service.

6. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), row-level security on our database, and scoped API keys. No system is completely secure; please use a strong, unique password for your account.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
